Halloween

Hello, I’m Issie. For those of you who don’t know, Halloween is my favorite holiday. It’s probably because I can do my makeup however I like and it’s socially acceptable, I also like supernatural stories and free candy any time of the year. Like my church youth does every year, we go to the corn maze near by where I live. I had a good time with Andrea (my best friend) and some other people in our group. Andrea decided that we were going to go into the haunted maze, hilarious because she cried, and screamed, covered her eyes, and attempted to latch onto my arm. Every clown we passed by, I flagged them down and pointed at her. They would walk right next to her and follow us and one even whispered in her ear “I’m never leaving” it was so funny. Once we got through the haunted maze she shook it off like nothing happened. We went into the regular maze, and walked almost five miles through it all. Three hours later we look at the clock and we finally realize it’s ten o’clock and so we decide to head home. It’s a great feeling spending time with friends, and being present in that moment. We got some good pictures too.

The day of Halloween. My friends and I had been planning our costumes for a month now. We voted on our group costume for this year (Alice in Wonderland). It was honestly super fun. Although we got lots of attention and I’m not a huge fan. The yearbook took tons of pictures of us, and we won the costume contest that our school put on (we had no idea they even had a costume contest). It was such a good time. I love Halloween, and before that day I was getting super anxious about a lot of things, and as stupid as it sounds it felt great to be with my friends and to not care about what others thought and have a good time. I was the Cheshire Cat, and I went full out with my makeup.

It was a good Halloween, and a good month.

Photography Friday #6

One of the things I haven’t done since July is take pictures, and I miss photography so much as I mentioned before in monday’s post. Today is Friday October 13, 2017. Despite what people may think I am having the absolute best day. I woke up to the cool air, and for the first time in a long time I went on Instagram. It was cool seeing the inspiration from my favorite artsy youtubers and to send memes to all my friends. When I finally got out of bed I woke up alone, put on my slippers, and read my bible verse of the day.

“Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, nut always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.”

-Thessalonians 5:15 NIV

Walked out to the living room. The house was silent. I was alone, and so happy. I popped on chromecast and connected to my Spotify playlist, and put on some indie tunes perfect for waking up in the morning.

I made myself some black tea because I need caffeine, and with my music whaling in the background I made a list of all the things I wanted to do, and at the top of that list was to have a photoshoot, and I did.

As soon as I could I threw on some fall makeup, a cute outfit, grabbed my tripod, Rose (my Canon) and away I went. I initially looked for some walls to shoot on. I found this shed with some shadows, set up my camera so that it’s level and away I went. I began with black and white.

Depending on the picture I clearly was playing around with the ISO levels, and the angle of the camera was pointing down more for the lower shots.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The last few are the only ones in color with this background.

Right next to that their are some trees, and stuff so I decided to take pictures there for more of a fall forest kind of edge. I also figured it might work for a banner picture. I had to change the angle of the camera upwards for these pictures, and for the darker it is the higher the ISO level is I don’t think I went past 1600.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Neked I moved over like two steps and changed the angle of the camera to this fence on the road and took some cute kind of adventurous renegade pictures.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Once again just moved the camera in the form of another right angle and found this wood wall.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Those were all the pictures I took for this short photoshoot. All of these are unedited, and taken today. It made my heart so happy to pop on my playlist, and go crazy with my creativity, and I finally have some decent Instagram pictures! Not to mention the website needed a change from the picture of the spring butterfly, and my friend at the beach… it is fall after all.

Do what makes your heart happy, and take time for yourself. Remember, Good Vibes=Good Life.

My Life Monday #13

Hello people of the internet. Welcome to another post where I tell you about my life, and how I’m doing. I guess I’m a basic white girl because my favorite time of year is fall, and my favorite holiday is Halloween.

I am also taking all advanced classes, running cross country, and helping out the band. I am running around doing the things that make me happy, but I haven’t been able to take anything in.

What makes me feel happy:

  • Running my race, and reaching my goals, screaming for my team, and when they cheer me on too.
  • Football games, taking in the friday night lights, helping and being with the band and all my friends.
  • Hanging out with my boyfriend and my friends, not doing anything, just being together.
  • Taking pictures
  • Writing stories

I know I can’t do everything, but I just came to a realization that this is my favorite time of year and all I have done is run around from thing to thing, and I haven’t been able to do anything that makes me deeply happy but little things have.

Homework and sports get hectic, and I’m so sad that cross country is almost over. But I just need to enjoy all that’s around me. Maybe sometime I can hang with my friends, and I really need to schedule a photoshoot for fall, badly. Or even try out some new fall makeup for school.

So the reason why I’m writing this is for anyone who feels like they’re in a rut, or they haven’t been able to take anything in, and you’ve just been going about life day to day. Sometimes you need to stop and take in a big breath of that fresh fall air, and look at everything that’s around you. Do something that makes your soul happy as cheesy as it sounds. Maybe make little changes to your routine, and take time to appreciate the world around you, and how the leaves change.

Lately I’ve been feeling sad for no reason, but then I started taking in fall. I started doing the things I love this time of year. Things like watching Halloweentown and Harry Potter. Things like using my string lights, and drinking coffee. Taking time to pray more often, that sounds weird, but just taking time for my relationship with God is something very important to me, and sometimes life gets in the way.

Take time for you, take time to look at the things around you, and take time for the thing sthat are important to you.

Also, so excited for pumpkin carving, photoshoots, corn mazes, and halloween squad costumes with my boys (thinking about going as memes from 2017).

Hilmar Homecoming 2017:

I live in a great little small town, and nothing makes me feel more like a community than homecoming. We get have a rally, we get out at noon, we have a parade, and an epic game.

This years theme was agriculture. Which fits our community so well because Hilmar runs on Ag. I didn’t take part in making my classes’s sophomore float, but we did win second out of all four classes.

Homecoming started the day before. I had revived my class t-shirt, and decided to crop and bleach it. And mad the more than necessary trip to Dollar General.

What I bought/homecoming necessities:

-White acrylic paint

-Three rolls of yellow pre wrap

-Gold acrylic paint pen

-Stick on gems

(I was mainly in the craft section…)

I was all ready for homecoming. That morning when I got to school, I painted all of my friends.

img_1854

Every class drug on. But in the band room, I had a line of people that came because they wanted me to paint their face.

I was so happy when the bell rang. I changed into my Cross Country shirt and rushed to find my team amongst the chaos. We walked over to the house of our team captain, grabbed a slice of pizza, then walked over to where the parade was starting. It was a great time walking with the No EXCuses banner down Landar. I saw everyone I knew and threw out candy. It’s just a nice thing to feel present and to experience it. Then I hung out in the band room until my mom picked me up. I went back home, then back to the school.

Hillmar v. Livingston. It was going to be on TV, and I was going to see my Livingston friend after a year, and win money because he was going to lose the bet we had placed on the winning team.

img_1871

Livingston lost to the JV team with a shutout. I got $10 and a picture.

img_1863

I spent most of the game with my boyfriend and his friends in the spirit booth, it was so much fun we watched the game, and messed around. But the best part was looking up at a full harvest moon, watching the floats pass with the band and my boyfriend. Just being present in that moment that made me completely happy surrounded by the people that lift me up.

Present, and happy in the moment, that was my fall homecoming 2017.

R.I.P Summer 2017

It’s been a good summer, but it’s time to say goodbye. I think I’m finally out of the mindset of endless denial about school. It’s here. I hate it, but it’s here. So this is the somewhat of the honorable mentions of Β summer.

Summer started off at the Merced County Fair… It was crazy.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Showed my market, and breeding goats, and horse showing. I was super successful in showing, and I had a great time. It was hard sometimes waking up in the mornings, but my bestie Victor was there and we went on a photoshoot. I ate so much junk food.

Then came Santa Cruz came. I don’t have many pictures but I had a good time going on all the rides like an adrenaline junkie.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Next thing on the list was Kern River:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

White water rafting was so much fun. Even learned one of my favorite life quotes “Knowledge comes from experience, and experience comes from doing stupid stuff” From Bob one of the rafting guides.

Finally the Stanislaus County Fair. The biggest fair this side of the Mississippi, and the fair all my friends go do. I showed dairy goats, breeding goats, and market goats. I got to hang out with my now Chico Babe college girl. I love her. I also got to see lots of old friends and take lots of pictures.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

It was so nice to spend time with them and just be with them. They make me so happy, and give me good vibes. Find people that make you feel that way.

San Diego almost immediately after. Training for Cross Country all summer has been crazy. I worked my way up to 5 miles while I was in San Diego. It meant everything to me, and I got the chance to spend time with my immediate family, and it was great because I don’t often get to spend time with them, but we were really able to connect.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

San Diego was one of the best times. I was so inspired, and I was feeling so alive.

Summer finally started coming to an end with my last beach trip to Santa Cruz with my bestie and my church. We ran around like two year olds having a great time.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

They make me feel so happy and it was great to feel like a kid and alive before getting wound up like a string on my guitar when school starts.

Summer was amazing. Everything came and went so fast. It is always great to be alone and take care of yourself but the best part of summer is being with my friends that feel like family and people that lift me up and fill me up with such a good energy it’s indescribable.

These people mean everything to me, and I always try to let them know that I love them because life is short but our friendship isn’t.

I thank God for summer 2017 and everything I was lucky to do because I had so many good times.

Good vibes = Good life

My Life Monday #11

HELLO PEOPLE OF THE INTERNET

That was fun. Imagine me yelling. I love to yell.

Anyways… let’s get down to business. *trying so hard not to make the Disney reference*

Anxiety. We all have it. That’s what this post is about. Some have it worse than others, but it is indeed inside all of us. Mine came out of me during high school. It was bad freshman year, and it’s the reason why I never look forward to school and I need a ‘safety person’ if I’m going to be in big crowds. I start to shake, my mind starts racing, my body overreacts and I start to cry. That’s how my body reacts and when I’m alone and my body is starting to do all the signs I know I got to get away, I got to get away from people as fast as possible. Nobody can see this. This also occurs when I am under huge amounts of stress, which means I undergo this at least once a week.

Some people experience this so badly they have no more control over their body, I understand that, but I never feel it as bady as that.

When I go through this I have to be alone. I go into the band room closet, lock the door, put in my ear buds, and play my guitar. I need my time alone, and at this point my friends understand and they go through the motions with me. Because it’s okay to be alone.

I spend my time alone, but then the next day I come back to my friends. We go back to the usual hanging out at lunch. But every now and then when I don’t feel okay or I start to cry in the closet having a hug from Victor never kills. What I’m trying to say is that it’s okay be alone sometimes, but you can’t spend your entire life alone. If your friends don’t lift you up, and they don’t help you when your brain gets too out of control you might need some new people in your life. But don’t spend the rest of your life alone high school can actually be a great experience, but if you lock yourself in the closet the whole time nothing will ever be fun, and anxiety will take over your life. Don’t let it do that to you, you have a good life, so live it, and it is okay to talk to people about these things. In fact the right friends will always help you in these situations. But don’t spend all of high school mourning in a closet, and talk to someone about it hearing another voice than one that’s coming from your brain makes all the difference.

And another thing. It’s okay to feel sad for no reason. I tend to and I don’t even know why. But you can’t let any depression like that eat you up because then you can’t enjoy all the beauty that life has to offer. Personally in high school you need to find the people you love, and you need to find the thing you love. For me its Cross Country and Band… or Guitar. Cross Country is a lot of pain but it gets everything off my mind, besides our team is like family. A love hate relationship with running really bonds people together, heck, we even went out for breakfast last Friday before school. Band is also the light of my high school life. They play at the varsity football game, so we all hang out during the JV game. Mrs. Cassidy’s office is like home. We sit around watching Netflix laying out on her couch eating pizza pockets. It’s literally home. Which makes sense because Mrs. Cassidy is Band Mom as we call her. I’m not technically in band, but I’m in band as the honorary member as me and my friends call it. Band makes me feel at home and we live by our on rules, and finding a place, or even those people in your high school makes everything better, and it makes any problems fade away.

High school has so many positives although teenagers are stupid. But just like everything else in life you get out of it what you put into it, and you can make it a good experience if you choose to make it one. And step one to making it a good experience is by slaying your dragons by yourself.

Photography Friday #4

Hello people of the internet! It’s Issie. Right now I’m currently in San Diego. I’m spending some time with family. I come here every summer before I go back to school to visit my family. It’s funny, because it kind of mentally prepares me and relaxes me before school starts.

I have been dreaming of coming here this summer and training for cross country, and it’s so nice to go for a run in the morning and to not have to get up at 5:30am to go run to beat the heat where I live.

So today is San Diego day 2.

Day one recap:

I boarded the plane around 4

Honestly, I am so blessed, because I got to sit by myself! Although their was this nice elderly woman named Carmen who seemed like she didn’t fly much. She sat across that tiny ile way that I can barely fit through, yeah, that one on the plane. She too, also sat alone. During the entire flight we would awkwardly make eye contact and make faces to each other, because we couldn’t hear each other from so far away. She was such a nice lady.

26488144_unknown

These mountains are a good sign the flight is almost over. Because the ocean is right over that horizon.

Dinner and a show. A European cookie, and water. Oh, and if you realize that that movie is Disney’s The Sword and the Stone, you are the MVP’s.

26488336_unknown
San Diego

The airport happens to be right near the Harbor, so that’s where I happened to go to first.

The harbor is normally filled with life, with people selling their trinkets and music pouring all over the place, but this was not the case this time. Although I did find some cool things.

One of them being this epic band of teenagers! They played at a cafe, they were so good and professional, and they sang all original songs.

26488624_unknown-1
Not that this is a good shot, but I thought they deserved to be in the blog, they killed it!!

Day 2:

Woke up, and I didn’t have to force myself to get out of bed to run!

It was a peaceful morning drinking my water listening to the Crisp Leaves & Lattes playlist on spotify by Kalyn Nicholson, on of my favorite YouTubers. It’s a playlist with a bunch of indie music, which sometimes I like to listen to just for the peaceful vibes. Then I got ready and got to go run by the bay. (My dream for about a half a year now was to train running on the bay/beach).

It was an overcast morning, but then the sun broke through, so I got ready to go exploring at Balboa Park.

img_0680-1

The science museum was packed so then I ended up going exploring/photoshoot.

This is a very nice man, and he is so blessed and talented

Then I met and sang along with this man. He’s a cover artist working on his own stuff. He’s very talented with his guitar, and I bought his cover album he recorded himself. Also he has two dogs, so gotta support that. He has an absolutely beautiful voice and amazing talent.

That’s him and his name, go find him!

I must say, Balboa park is flowing with culture, amazing people and music flowing from every corner. As well as beautiful floriculture and more.

Today was quite an adventure. I can’t wait for what else is going to happen.

I’ll talk to you guys on Monday, until then, I’ll catch you on the flip side.

My Life Monday #7

July 17, 2017

What is up people of the internet?! It’s Issie, how are you? I hope you’re having a wonderful life. So I am on county fair 3/3. I am honestly so glad to finally be done. I showed dairy goats and breeding goats this time around. I won first in my breeding class, and I won supreme champion registered goat as well. Pretty good for my first time every showing dairy goats.

img_0436

It was such a long week by the end of it, but it meant the world to me that I got to see my fair best friend.

img_0464

I also may have cut myself with my pocket knife. I would not stop bleeding, I had to go to the local ER. Surprisingly I didn’t get stitches, I just got it glued together. I felt absolutely no pain during the entire process, and I went back to working the very next day. But I gotta say, it’s hard to type and text with one thumb.

img_0448

I got to spend a great night with my my girl, and I got to help all of my friends show. I also got to see lots of great older friends of mine that I only get to see once a year. It was some pretty great times, and I can’t wait to go once again with my best friend Andrea.

img_0455

Oh, and lot’s of the pictures I put in placed very well, and one of my pictures won best of show!

img_0497

This fair can sometimes be a bunch of overwhelming drama, but this was an amazing fair.

On Thursday I’m off to San Diego, by the time you read this I’m already there.

So that’s my life right now. Thanks again for your support and love on my blog and my posts. Magazine writing and photography is what I hope to do for a living, and this blog is a really strong passion of mine. So like, comment, and subscribe, and I’ll catch you on the flip side.

My Life Monday #5

June 12, 2017

Hello my people, the people of the internet just scrolling through, the people who are following me and decided to read this, the people that have seen this on WordPress or have seen my instagram, long story short, hello and welcome.

So looking back… I haven’t posted in two solid weeks. I absolutely hate that. So, the week of finals for those of you who hung with me through that madness, I survived. I scored higher in Spanish than I thought, and did relatively well in Geometry, got almost a C in Adv. English (I could rant about that one, but I won’t go there) and I didn’t really pay attention to the rest of them, my mind was basically in the zone to do whatever it took to study, and I didn’t really care to know the outcome, I just wanted to be done with it, but I am back.

On top of trying to study, I was also trying to run for cross country and work with my animals for fair… I know that doesn’t sound as difficult as it really is. But goats can be a pain, and I worked almost as hard as I could because I wanted to win advanced horse showmanship. By the time I was done with finals I was so happy to go swimming with my friends on the last. Friday I had to gain as much rest as possible to prepare me for the 4am and 5:30 am mornings that came with the adventures of fair. I also had to pack my stuff and get organized. I know myself well now, and I’ve done enough fairs to know that before fair my shiz must be together, and I must gain extra hours of sleep to make up for the hours I will loose… I also know I must pack a pillow.

On  Saturday I had a horse show all day. I was blessed to receive first in freshman showmanship and second in advanced… (so close to winning advanced as a freshman, there’s always next year.) I also did a bunch of other classes but if you want to hear about that comment below.

Anyways, next day was fair day, we took the goats down to the fairgrounds, where their was so much non compacted dirt you couldn’t always see straight. I got so many pimples and so much dehydration from this barn… dirt in everything! The only people showing goats this year were some seniors. Let me tell you, these seniors were the nicest people you will ever meet. Abby, Marissa, and Darek. I normally get anxiety by being around people but I forced myself not to get anxious and it made out for a great experience with these great people. They graduated, but in FFA you can come back and show one last time. Which is cool, but it was nice to not be the loner sometimes and they always made people feel included. Shoutout to Abby if she’s creeping on my blog again.

I did pretty well at this fair, 2nd in market, 2nd in showmanship, and 1st in breeding. Definitely an improvement compared to the last county fair.

I ate so much junk food though. Their was this little kid, Marlin, his heffer died, and his dad took him to fair so he could have the experience. So, we gave him an experienced… he decided he liked barn duty and cleaning the barn for us, so we had him to that, and I paid him in food. Lots of it, I spent like $20 on him. We had some good times that little kid and I… ate so much junk food.

Victor also went to this fair (refresher: Victor AKA Kevin, my best friend since 2nd grade). So we had some lit times together. On the first day to pass the time we played blackjack, and I took his money  face *devilish smirk* (not all of it of course.) Some days we were bound to our separate barns, but on the day I got my new camera we had a photoshoot… we actually had several, and we explored the fair grounds. It was super cool.

“Issie, don’t go in there” Victor said nudging me over back to the track.

“Come on Victor, live a little” She said pulling his hand and smiling.

Basically sums up the entire adventure.

Finally, auction day was upon us. I was so happy to get rid of Squirt (my goat). He was sold for $8 a pound… that’s really good. I was really happy, but I had to wait around all day to auction him off, so Victor and I had another photoshoot, and his mom bought me food. It was getting to be about evening time after I sold, and my mom was with me so we ended up looking around at the exhibits, and I was dying over the photography, and the sketches of Ed Sheeran, Tyler, and Josh from Twenty Γ˜ne PilΓΈts.

Eventually we left and I slept hella good, as usual. The next night was awards night, and I was blessed to receive a plaque for winning 1st in freshman horse showmanship. Hours of boredom later, finally left the fairgrounds for good this time, got the check for my animal, and went home.

Today is June 12th, basically my first day of summer. I slept in, put on my music, snap chatted my friends, ran, worked out, cleaned the house, put on my makeup, got dressed. Good times man, I’m feeling good. So that’s where I’ve been for two weeks. I don’t want to do that again, but I had no time to prep posts. On the bright side when I update the blog for July and August, it is going to look amazing!

This blog means a lot to me, so if you find me tolerable, please like and subscribe for more, and follow me on my instagram @thatgirlissie for sneak peaks of July’s photos.

Photography Friday #3

Snapchat-772659207

This is the story of my fist FFA market goat project and my first FFA trip to the fair. I have been showing since I was nine so I am used to fair vibes, this wasn’t my first rodeo. I had a lot of help from my Ag. Adviser but I also tried to be independent. A lot of perpetration went into this project (mainly because I had raised this goat since he was born). It was two weeks ago we went to fair. Fair is a really cool experience, junk food, roller coasters, and animal exhibits and shows. It can be a very fun and sometimes educational experience. You keep your animals in barns, and you basically hang out outside all day doing absolutely nothing. One of my friends thought we hung out in a room with WiFi and AC… nope it’s almost like camping, but you come back home every night, then come back bright and early.

You weigh your animals one day, then you sit around awhile until you show. When you show you are in uniform almost all day, and where I live it’s normally about 90 degrees when I show, but it’s worth it, it’s really fun. Then you sit around some more for a few more days until auction when all your hard work gets rewarded.

Snapchat-44592000
This was my reward

My showday was all day. I was so tired at the end of it. I won 3rd in showmanship, 3rd in market, and first in breeding. and the picture right there was my reward. At fair the most important thing to get is a cinnamon roll. They are the best things ever and I look forward to them every year all year long, and so I had a cinnamon roll with ice cream, and that was the best thing of life.

snapchat-1929385371.jpg
My placing

You have to be at the fair every day all day, and it’s fun because you’re with your friends. We snap chat each other or play cards all day long, or sometimes we’ll even pr-ooze through the fair grounds looking at all the free stuff, educational exhibits, and how much fried stuff is offered.

IMG_20170505_143756
Accurate representation of how tired you are and how you’re willing to sleep anywhere.

On an added note to the picture above I tend to do a lot of reading and sleeping at fair… more sleeping than anything. I made a bed out of a box slightly shorter than my length and a pillow from a bag of hay… good times, good times.

There’s always free stuff that people use to promote their business, and this year a tire center had a Frisbee, so my friends and I would go out in a grass area and throw that Frisbee all over the place, and when it got lost, we would go get another one.

I am a sucker for fast rides and I love a good adrenaline rush. Lots of my friends (despite the agricultural background of our hometown) have never been to a fair, and have no idea what it’s like so this year I took them on what I call a ride night. We pay to eat junk food, buy cheap lame stuff, and almost puke on roller coasters. The day that we went on was the day after JoJo’s birthday so I just called this his birthday party.

Bright and early I picked he hyperactive boys up, and we went down to the fair grounds listening to my sick playlists (Spotify ispat1000). They ran around like dogs, they helped me change the goat’s waters and their feed. We played the game ‘Ninja War’ so much that you would think we were little kids, and we walked around the fair so much. At the fair we went to they had an abundance of anime march so the boys and I went crazy. Of course, I bought a Fairy Tail necklace.

We went on all the rides… except the zipper… the zipper can burn in hell that concussion giver! We had a blast, when JoJo and John weren’t about to puke. Juan and I were having a lit time and we were dabbing on every ride.

snapchat-2147331871.jpg
Far left with the Gryffindor hat I gave him is JoJo, the creep with his tongue sticking out is Juan, the girl with the double chins is me, and the boy eating my hair in the back is John.

Snapchat-958286142

While we were there we decided to play some hopelessly riged games, and John actually won! (Shocker to everyone) He won the dinosaur you see, we named her Dina… yew we checked it is a she… originally we thought she was a he and the original name was Dino but I saw it more fitting to change her name.

The little stuffed animal polar bear is Polly… Polly the Polar Bear. Juan won that little guy and decided to give it to his girlfriend… but he eventually forgot to do that.

Me in my uniform for auction

Looking back that was such a good time with all of them, I just wished Victor could have came, because then the insanity squad would have been complete. I was so caught up in the moment of having fun with them but reflecting back it really felt like a great trip with such good vibes. Love you boys although I doubt any of them are reading this. Ah, my boys, my closest friends.
